How Eben went from “average results” to incredible results in 90 days
Are you fed up with putting in lots of effort to achieve your goals without seeing much in return?
Do you live a busy life that can sometimes make getting in shape that little bit more difficult?
When Eben first came to me he was already training consistently in the gym as well as living a pretty active lifestyle, playing a lot of football, golf and other activities, yet he had got to the point where he was “fed up with seeing average results”.
Perhaps you feel the same?
Perhaps you’re living an active lifestyle and not seeing the results you’d like or expect.
You exercise regularly, get out for walks, do cardio, classes but, no matter what, you just can’t seem to achieve the results you want, despite putting in the effort to do so.
And, just like Eben, you’re frustrated and fed up.
First I want to reassure you that the effort you’re putting in is absolutely worth it. Okay, you may not be seeing the fat loss results that you want, but I guarantee that the activity you’re doing is doing wonders for your physical and mental well-being.
So don’t give up.
But how do we go from ‘average results’ to incredible results like the ones you see below?
On The 90 Day New You, Eben was able to drop 12 kilos whilst maintaining a large amount of muscle and strength during that period.
If you want to achieve incredible results then you need to have a plan and a structure of how you’re going to get there, it’s no use winging it and hoping for the best. It’s also very important that the plan fits around you and your lifestyle.
“I've tried tracking calories, adding more cardio but I've never been able to sustain it long enough to see a difference and would always revert back to old habits."
Eben’s quote here picks up on a couple of things that you need to understand.
Sustainability is key
You will not get the results that you want if you’re not able to stick to a plan for long enough. Eben had tried different things in the past, without much success as he wasn’t able to sustain them for long enough.
Maybe that sounds like you?
You’re more stop start than rush hour traffic on the M25.
Well there could be many reasons for this. Little enjoyment, lack of knowledge, lack of accountability or your methods just don’t fit you and your busy life.
The latter 2 were the main issues for Eben.
Old habits die hard
What you have to remember is that there are certain things you have been doing for a long time that are very ingrained within your everyday life. These things (habits) are the reason you are where you are today when it comes to your health and fitness.
You have to understand that in order to get results you have to build new habits to replace the old ones that are holding you back. This will ensure that you not only get results in the first place, but also keep them too.
In Eben’s case, it was mainly about building new habits around nutrition.
Eben is a busy professional. He has a successful career that often involves travelling to different countries as well as long hours in the office.
This can make fat loss a little more difficult as work meetings can often take place over food and drinks which makes tracking much harder.
Perhaps you’re a busy professional too and you’re wondering how you can overcome this?
PLANNING!
Having a meal out is absolutely fine but you need to plan and account for it if you’re serious about getting results. You can also make smarter food choices when you do go out so that you don’t go completely overboard when you don’t need to.
Instead of having 3 courses and a few drinks to wash it all down you can opt for 1 or 2 courses with a limit on the number of drinks you have with it. This doesn’t need to be restrictive, it just needs to make sense for you and your goals.
Having a steak and vegetables with a glass of red wine is a much more sensible choice, than having 3 courses and a bottle, if you’re trying to lose body fat. That way you can still go out and enjoy yourself but consume far less calories while doing so.
Eben also saw the value in meal prepping.
This may not be for everyone, but spending a bit of time preparing meals for the week can save you a lot of money and calories if done correctly. He chose meals that he could easily eat on the go or at his desk if he needed to.
This meant he wouldn’t go hungry or be tempted to head over to the Greggs down the road.
“The biggest thing I've learned is that you can still eat foods you enjoy and have a few drinks here and there and reach your goals as long as it's sustainable."
And here lies the key to Eben’s success.
Understanding that you can still live your life alongside getting results.
You don’t need to give up meals out, you don’t have to quit drinking, you don’t have to stop eating your favourite foods, you just need something that is sustainable and fits around your life.
Eben’s consistency has always been there, he just needed the right structure, guidance and accountability to get him from “average results” to incredible results.
